Where did July go? VIA sin Aqua

Somehow I lost July. The search for the great cup of coffee was not postponed, just not blogged about thoroughly.
I have 3 big reviews to catch up on.
#1 - VIA on the summit of Mt. Rainier in the middle of a ski descent. Good coffee and much power.
#2 - Aero Press coffee maker. Good coffee, not sure what kind
#3 - Keeping the Starbuck vibe in coffee town going, tried “Breve Macchiato-priced” Jamaican Blue Mountain, good, but more importantly, interesting.

September I am headed to Yosemite to climb, land of bad coffee and hunger bears, so will have to plan. I am headed to climb a big wall and was reminded of a route called Via sin Aqua, or "Road without Water", double entendre is a bad play on words and a mouth full of fine dry grounds. Stay tuned!

A better cup...

I am hooked on coffee.... in a good way. It is my muse, what fires up my day, the sunshine in the morning when Seattle weather provides none. I like coffee most ways: froufrou Starbucks drinks, black with sugar, hot, cold, straight espresso, and now that VIA exists, even instant coffee. I like to joke that the proof of my passion for coffee is the color of my teeth. My fiance does not like that one, but it is true. The only coffee I don't like is crappy coffee, usually found in truck stops, diners and other places where they perceive coffee as a commodity, and view the bean and the brewing process as "all created equal". For those times, I order tea, as it is far harder to screw up to the point of being un-drinkable.
The best coffee is the kind I drink in my PJs, made at home in a French (or Freedom, HAHAHA!) press. I usually use Starbucks French roast, ground course, steeped for 4 minutes, with raw sugar or home made simple syrup in a porcelain mug. My fiance makes coffee in a coffee maker and she is able to make a bad cup of coffee with the same beans, same water and same day as my perfect cup. Her main motivation and my main complaint is the mess of digging out the grounds from the French press.
Therein is this adventure, or at least part of it. The quest for a better cup of coffee, or at least the same cup, minus the pain points.......
